Little Applegate TH Trail Work Party - February 24, 2018 @ Little Applegate Trailhead | Buncom | Oregon | United States

THIS WORK PARTY IS CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER: The combined impact of the weather forecast and wet trail conditions make our plans for this Saturday sound like a miserable way to spend part of a day – even on a pretty trail. Trail work parties are supposed to be fun – not a slog working in slick conditions in freezing rain or snow. I mentioned the possibility about three weeks ago of seeing early wildflowers owing to the warm weather. They’re now frozen so you won’t be missing a big show of flowers this weekend! However, by March 17th – our next planned work party at Armstrong Trailhead – we should definitely see some flowers out – we hope.

Thank you to all of you who planned to come help. We hope to see you in March.

Have a nice weekend.
Hope Robertson

This month we will work from the Little Applegate Trailhead toward Tunnel Ridge TH. With the ridiculously warm weather we have been having we may see some early wildflowers.  This will be an out and back hike totaling about four to five miles – depending upon how far we get! Great views and a lovely hike.

Where:  Meet at Buncom (corner of Sterling Creek Rd and Little Applegate Rd at 8:30 AM.  We will carpool/caravan to the Little Applegate Trailhead.

The Tunnel Ridge access trail is one of the most popular sections of the trail.  We will complete the work we started last month and finish trimming the middle of the loop between Tunnel and Bear Gulch.  In addition, we will do some tread work to install some much needed drainage features so that parts of the trail don’t wash away this winter.  For those doing trail clearing you will walk about 4 miles round trip.  For the crew working on drainage features we will focus only on the access trail so roughly a 2 mile round trip or less.

Tunnel tours for anyone wishing to go through the Tunnel!

CANCELLED: Trail Work Party - April 18, 2020 @ TBD | Oregon | United States

Due to the public health recommendations to avoid public gatherings to reduce the spread of the Covid-19 virus, we’re reluctantly cancelling this month’s work party.

We regret that the final work party of the year, scheduled for April 18th, is cancelled due to the continuing stay-at-home restrictions that are in place to limit exposure to the Covid-19 virus. We will plan to begin work parties for the Fall/Winter season in November. In the meanwhile, if you do go out on the Sterling Mine Ditch Trail and Jack-Ash Trails, please be respectful of others and if you meet other trail users, please step off the trail as much as possible to maintain appropriate distancing.

Thank you all for your support during this season’s work parties, and we hope to see you in the fall.
