As some of you may have seen in the Mail Tribune Outdoor section yesterday, the Run the Ditch 5-Miler and Hike – May 26th 9 AM at Tunnel Ridge Trailhead – is getting lots of attention. You have two choices next weekend if you would like to enjoy the ditch trail you have all helped with over the past few years. You can come run 5 miles or come take a guided nature hike with Chamise Kramer – a botanist from BLM. The Southern Oregon Runners have registered over 50 people for the 5 mile run from the Tunnel Ridge Trailhead, down the road to the Bear Gulch access trail up Bear Gulch , along the Sterling Mine Ditch and back down the Tunnel Ridge access trail to the starting point. The guided nature hike will begin AFTER the runners have headed off (the run begins at 9 AM sharp – the hike at 9:10 AM). The guided part of the hike will probably be 2 miles or so at which point the hikers can either continue on their own on the same hike as the runners or return back down Bear Gulch. Or just come and cheer everyone on!
Parking will be along the road on the right side before and after the Tunnel Ridge trailhead.
We will also have a table at Buncom Days that same day so we hope to see some of you out enjoying this lovely weather and our community trail system.
