REMINDER! SUTA trail work party, Sat Dec 9th!

8:30 – 1:00 Meet up at Wolf Gap trailhead. Free hot lunch following!

When:  Saturday, Dec. 9th, 8:30 AM to 1:00PM
(SUTA provides snacks and hot lunch!)

Where: Meet-up at the Wolf Gap trail head. Visit  www.sutaoregon.org for directions to trail head.

What:  Trail construction for those who wish, and refinement and trimming for those who prefer that…on our newest segment in the Jack-Ash and Sterling Mine Ditch Trail systems – our professional crew has already started and you can help us help them by refining the tread and trimming up where needed. For the intrepid among you, you can do some actual tread construction in our already flagged and brushed out trail corridor.

Expect to hike about 4 miles round trip.

We will watch the weather forecast.  If it looks nasty check your email before leaving home that morning. (Please email sutaoregoncontact@gmail.com to make sure you are on our list).

What to Bring: We will be working on a very steep open slope. so wear comfortable and supportive hiking or work boots. The trail tread will have been roughed in by the pro crew and we can clean it up, refine it, trim up as needed, etc. Bring also work gloves, and dress in layers appropriate to the weather. Bring your own water bottle and SUTA will have water at the trailhead for refills.  Also bring your favorite trail snacks if you like, and SUTA will also provide some yummy home-baked goodies!  SUTA will provide tools, but if you have a favorite tread tool, loppers, or pruning saw, feel free bring it (write your name on it please).

There IS such a thing as a FREE LUNCH!  SUTA will provide a hearty warm lunch back at the trail head when we are finished working.  We will also have some awesome home-baked goodies there.

RSVP:  If you plan to come, please email SUTAoregoncontact@gmail.com so we can plan the lunch and snacks!  Thank you!
