Join SUTA for a walk and some work on the Jack-Ash Trail ~
these fine folks have been doing the heavy lifting!
Celebrate National Trails Day – hiking and working on the brand new – almost open – Jack-Ash Trail. Our stellar trail crew has been working hard to build an amazing trail. Come see what they have accomplished and help put finishing touches to the trail construction. We will be working on the top section of the Jack-Ash Trail on Anderson Butte, trimming and sawing branches, doing some raking – while enjoying gorgeous scenery. Our plan is to hike 2.7 miles up the trail working as we go and then have lunch at a spot with a breathtaking view – about a 5 mile round-trip hike. SUTA will provide home-baked treats and lunch.
Where: Meet at the end of the paved portion of Anderson Butte Road (about 5 miles uphill from the intersection of Griffin Creek Rd and Griffin Lane). We will carpool one mile to the trail from there.
When: June 3rd, 2017 ~ 8:30AM-1:30PM (includes lunch provided by SUTA)
What: Hike and trail work on part of the soon-to-be opened Jack-Ash Trail
What to Bring: Wear comfortable hiking or work boots, dress in layers and bring gloves. Bring water and whatever special snacks you like. If you have them, please bring loppers, a pruning saw, sturdy rake or a tread tool such as a grubber or sturdy shovel.
RSVP: If you plan to come, please email SUTAoregoncontact@gmail.com so we can plan the work party and food! Thank you!
