A Hike from the Tunnel Ridge Trailhead to Bear Gulch Trailhead
National Trails Day
Saturday, June 7th, 2014
10 AM – 2PM
Come join SUTA on National Trails Day for a walk through time on the Sterling Mine Ditch Trail. Archaeologist Lisa Rice from the Medford BLM will share her fascinating stories about life in this area during the Gold Rush, and how the 26-mile ditch was constructed by hand, in record time. Lisa will point out historical artifacts along the ditch, and much more.
Where: Meet us at the Tunnel Ridge Trailhead, Little Applegate Road (directions can be downloaded here).
When: Saturday, June 7th, 2014, 10 AM – 2 PM
What: We will be hiking from the Tunnel Ridge Trailhead to the Bear Gulch Trailhead – an almost 5- mile hike with a climb up to the ditch and back down to Bear Gulch. Wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring a bagged lunch and water. SUTA will provide home-baked treats.
Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org so we know who to wait for and can plan treats!
