SUTA’s First 2014 Trail Work Party – January 18th
Sterling Mine Ditch Trail
Please help SUTA keep the Sterling Mine Ditch Trail open for year-round use! Our work parties provide fun and free exercise in a scenic outdoor setting, a chance to meet new and interesting people, and much-appreciated community service. And we provide great snacks and lunch! Who could ask for more? Please bring your friends, as many hands make light work.
When: January 18– Saturday 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM (includes lunch provided by SUTA)
Where: Meet at Buncom before 8:30 AM (intersection of Little Applegate Road and Sterling Creek Road) for carpool to the Bear Gulch Trailhead on Little Applegate Road.
What: Brushing and minor tread work on the Sterling Mine Ditch Trail from Bear Gulch Trailhead to the Tunnel Ridge Trailhead. This is a 4 mile hike, with some uphill to reach the ditch trail.
What to Bring: Wear comfortable hiking or work boots, dress in layers. If you have them, please bring loppers, a pruning saw or a tread tool such as a Pulaski, Grubber, or sturdy shovel. Please bring water and whatever snacks you like. SUTA will have some extra trail tools.
RSVP: If you plan to come, please email SUTAoregoncontact@gmail.com so we can plan the work party and food! Thank you
Weather Contingencies: We cancel work parties ONLY if serious weather threatens (pouring rain, blinding snow). Occasional showers, mist, or flurries don’t deter us…but check the SUTA website late Friday if you have doubts. www.SUTAOregon.org
And if you are planning your calendar for the next few months, our next work parties are the third Saturday of each month:
We’re looking forward to seeing you out on the trail. Thank you for your help.
