Trail construction on the new Poorman Creek Trail

We’re hoping for some mild weather, but please check your email/Facebook posts for an update on Friday, February 20th.
We’re planning to work on building part of the new Poorman Creek Trail starting from BLM Road 38.2.21.1 off of Griffin Lane.
You’ll have a chance to dig new tread, tidy up the trail that’s already been constructed, or push back vegetation from the trail corridor. This is challenging but very rewarding work.Meet at BLM Road 38.2.21.1. This is accessed from the highest point on Griffin Lane (this is at the top of the switchbacks if you’re familiar with the area). From Griffin Lane, head west on BLM Road 38.2.21 about a half mile and BLM Road 38.2.21.1 is on the right. SUTA will have signs posted at Griffin Lane to help direct you to the work party location. The location is also available on Google Maps as Road 38.2.21 Medford OR.

When:  Saturday, February 21, 2026     9:00 AM to 1:00PM
(SUTA provides snacks and hot lunch!)Where: Meet-up at BLM Road 38.2.21.1. Check Google Maps for driving directions. Parking is available along the road.

What:  We’ll be doing trail construction, tread cleanup, and brush trimming.

Expect to hike up to 3 miles round trip.

What to Bring: Wear comfortable and supportive hiking or work boots. Also bring work gloves, and dress in layers appropriate to the weather. Bring your own water bottle and SUTA will have water at the trailead for refills.  SUTA will also provide some yummy home-baked trail snacks!  We provide tools, but if you have a favorite tread tool, loppers, or pruning saw, feel free bring it (write your name on it please).

There IS such a thing as a FREE LUNCH!  SUTA will provide a hearty hot lunch back at the trailhead when we are finished working.
