Attention All Ditch Users!
Unfortunately, trails don’t maintain themselves and the healthy vegetation along the Sterling Mine Ditch Trail can grow 18’ in a year! If you enjoy using these trails, the Siskiyou Upland Trails Association (SUTA) would love your help keeping the Sterling Mine Ditch Trail open!
We hold trail maintenance work parties one Saturday a month in winter and spring, starting at 8:30 AM and finishing in time for a trailside lunch! Most of the work involves light brushing with loppers and pruning saws and minor tread work with plenty of time to enjoy the views and each other’s company. With your help, we can maintain the 30 miles of trails in the Sterling Mine Ditch Trail system every year so no section becomes overgrown and impassable.
Our volunteer trail crews are rewarded with laughter, a great hike with fun people, a sense of accomplishment, home-baked treats, and a trailside lunch provided by SUTA. Please join a SUTA work party next winter, and help make a difference by keeping this trail open.
Won’t you join us?
