First SUTA trail Work Party of 2025 – Jan 4th – Help complete our newest trail!

January 4, 2025 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Our First SUTA Trail Work Party of the New Year is
SATURDAY January 4, 2025

9:00 am -1:00 pm
Trail construction on the new Armstrong Gulch Trail segment

We’re hoping for some mild weather, but if weather looks iffy, please check your email/SUTA Facebook posts for an update on Friday January 3rd.

We’re planning to work on building more of the new trail connection starting from Armstrong Gulch on the Sterling Mine Ditch Trail. You’ll have a chance to dig new tread or push back vegetation from the trail corridor. This is challenging but very rewarding work.

Meet-up on Armstrong-Deming Road approximately 3/4 of a mile past the Armstrong Gulch Trailhead at 9:00. The new trail is most easily accessed from this point. There is plenty of parking along the road.

FREE LUNCH after we work!
(Watch the weather forecast and your email in case of weather cancellation, or check www.sutaoregon.org)

When:  Saturday, January 4, 2025     9:00 AM to 1:00PM
(SUTA provides snacks and hot lunch!)

Where: Meet-up 3/4 of a mile past the Armstrong Gulch Trailhead. Parking along the road.

What:  We’ll be doing trail construction and brush trimming.

Expect to hike about 3 miles round trip.

What to Bring: Wear comfortable and supportive hiking or work boots. Also bring work gloves, and dress in layers appropriate to the weather. Bring your own water bottle and SUTA will have water at the trailhead for refills.  SUTA will also provide some yummy home-baked trail snacks!  We provide tools, but if you have a favorite tread tool, loppers, or pruning saw, feel free bring it (write your name on it please).

There IS such a thing as a FREE LUNCH!  SUTA will provide a hearty hot lunch back when we are finished working.

RSVP:  If you plan to come, please email SUTAoregoncontact@gmail.com so we can plan the lunch and snacks!  Thank you!
